The i2c Centre was created through a grant from the Canada Foundation for Innovation and with generous support from industrial partners. The research domain of the Centre is at the intersection of civil engineering, knowledge and informatics systems, and business administration. The Centre's mission is to participate through cutting-edge research, innovative course work and active industry engagement in creating a breakthrough in the field of civil informatics. The aim is to support a leading role for the construction industry in the knowledge economy, encourage multidisciplinary teaming and information exchange, and also influence government and private organizational practices to support integrated, sustainable, information-centered infrastructure development.
